Speech team competes at Carrington meet

March 13, 2015
Pierce County Tribune

The Rugby Panther Speech team competed on March 7 in Carrington. In attendance were 14 other Class B schools and two Class A schools. The competition is the sixth of this season, with only three to follow: Harvey Wells Co. (March 14), Minot State (March 16) and Cando (March 28).

The Panther speech team placed third as a team in the sweepstakes competition. Jamestown and Mayport CG took first and second, respectively.

Given its location, Carrington is always an interesting tournament. Several schools the Panthers have not competed against previously in the season come to the meet. For instance, Hatton-Northwood and Mayport CG were both in attendance; the Panthers won't compete against these schools again until state.

As the Panthers near the regional tournament, they are continuously working to perfect and tweak their competition pieces. At this time, the Panthers still sit at seven state qualifiers, but several other competitors are well on their way to the State Tournament.
