Pierce County Tribune

The 3rd annual Miss Rugby Scholarship Pageant will be held Aug. 9 at Tilman Hovland Auditorium in Rugby High School at 5:30 pm. It is open to the public and tickets are $5 at the door. There are 18 contestants this year coming from our community and across the state.

The purpose and commitment of the Rugby Preliminary Scholarship Pageant is to recognize potential, reward achievement and promote young girls and women in our community by providing opportunities to develop interview and communication skills, enhance performance capability, encourage a healthy life style and build self-esteem and self-confidence through competition. In addition, it provides college savings bonds and scholarship dollars to encourage the young girls and women in our community to continue their education in preparation for their future.

This year, there are nine contestants in the Princess Program. This age group is for girls ages 5 to 12. The Princesses will have the opportunity to participate in a private interview, onstage talent, sportswear and evening gown. All nine of the Princesses taking part in the pageant will receive a crown and be eligible for the state pageant.
