Hovland sisters excel
In track and field, Rugby High School graduate Crystal Hovland (2011) placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles at the Lyle Hokanson Open on April 11 and 12 at North Dakota State University.
Hovland, a junior at University of Mary, posted a time of 1 minute, 2.48 seconds in the final. Hovland was 17th in the javelin throw with a mark of 27.43 meters (90 feet). The versatile Marauder also competed in the 1,600-meter relay and helped her team to a second-place time of 3:51.54, five seconds off first-place NDSU.

Aubrey Hovland, an RHS grad (2013), also competed at the meet. The University of North Dakota freshman tied three others with the third-best mark in high jump. Aubrey cleared 5 feet, 1 inches. She also competed in the 100-meter hurdles and took 10th in 16.92 seconds.
