Lions to hold Music in the Park fundraiser

April 10, 2014
Pierce County Tribune

Rugby Lions Club President Luis Coca would like to announce the Annual Fundraiser for Music in the Park will be held April 25 at the Rugby Eagles Club. Theresa's chicken dinner with all the trimmings will be served starting at 5 p.m. There will be drawings, 50/50 bucket and auction items. Tickets are on sale for $10 and all proceeds go to Lions' projects and Music in the Park. For ticket information, contact any Lions member or Luis Coca at 240-5517.

Lions member Kathy Kirchofner has been the driving force behind arranging the musicians to come each week during the summers. She makes contact and negotiates contracts. Working with a limited or low budget can be a real challenge for Kathy, but she gets it done.

In addition to our fundraiser, our club would be remiss in not mentioning the outstanding support we get from the Park Board. Without its help, there wouldn't be Music in the Park. We work together to bring this to our community to enjoy. When you see a member of the Park Board, take time and thank them for the community service they provide.

Our Lions Club is constantly conducting fund raisers for many projects for our community. The money that is raised pays for the balance of your "free" ice cream, which is paid for by our club. Even when we have our Picnic in the Park in conjunction with the music, it doesn't bring in a lot of money to pay for the community projects. We rely on your generosity and sense of community spirit in donating at these events.

The Rugby Lions Club not only does Picnics and Music in the Park, but several other community events. Project Joy, Tables Envisioned, blood drives, ditch clean up are only a few of the many things we do. Through the raised funds, we have supported Prairie Village Museum, the Lyric Theater, school programs, food pantry, local charities and the list goes on.

We encourage you to come to our Fundraiser for a night of fun, good meal and fellowship. It takes the generous heart of our community to have these events and support the programs. In other words; it's you who helps us, to help others.
