Against Armory wood floor

March 28, 2014
Jeff Miller, Rugby , Pierce County Tribune

In visiting with one of our city counsil members, I was informed that the counsil is considering, as one of the options, replacing the floor in the armory with a wood floor. If this happens, it would possibly shut down events like the Home and Garden show, the Ag Show and merchants renting it for sales. Would it still be able to be used for auction sales and the like? This building is used by many different groups, and is the only place in our city that can hold events like this. Yes, the floor needs to be replaced but why not with tile, and then paint the basketball courts on it so it can continue to be the multi purpose building it has been for decades?

Considering a floor that has limited use and possibly shutting down events that promote our area businesses and draw people to our city is not what a progressive city council should do. They should be looking for ways to promote more events. Please contact your council member and let them know your feelings.
