Rugby family receives awards

January 3, 2014
Pierce County Tribune

At the 35th annual State Snowmobile North Dakota convention in Grand Forks earlier last month, a Rugby man and a Rugby family received yearly awards from the previous season.

Cory & Gail Heilman and their children, Hailey, Sierra and Gage, received the "Snowmobile Family of the Year" award for 2013. Rick Bruggeman received the "Snowmobiler of the Year" award for 2013.

Individuals and families are nominated by clubs well in advance of the convention-a yearly deadline of April 1 is set for nominations. In nominating for "Snowmobiler of the Year", individuals and clubs must choose persons who demonstrate a deep commitment to snowmobiling, and must be involved in organizations striving to make snowmobiling more enjoyable for future generations. There are similar guidelines in place for the "Snowmobile Family of the Year" award nominations.

The 2011 and 2012 winners were also from Rugby. In 2011 the Bruggemans were the family of the year, and Jesse Fritz was snowmobiler of the year. In 2012 Mike & Laura Swanson and family received the family of the year award, and Brad Grove was snowmobiler of the year.
