HAMC Auxiliary, Haaland Estates light up trees

December 13, 2013
Pierce County Tribune

Christmas can be a difficult time for our residents at Haaland Estates as they may feel a sense of loss or depression. Some may feel lonely as they have no one with whom they can share the season. The purpose of the "Angel Tree" is to insure all of our residents are remembered during this Christmas in a specific and special way. The "Angel Tree" will be located in front of the chapel at the front entrance of Haaland Estates. We invite friends, family, volunteers, visitors and staff to pick a tag off the tree and purchase a gift that is listed on the tag. We then ask that the gift be returned along with the tag to the front office before Dec. 24th. Little angels will then deliver the gifts to the residents along with a message of "Good Cheer" to brighten their Christmas season. As it was angels who brought the shepherds the good news of Jesus' birth, our hope is that this will bring a message of love and caring to our residents. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Lisa Hanson at 776-5203 ext 8066.

The Heart of America Medical Center Auxiliary also has a Tree of Giving, which was lit at a ceremony Dec. 2. Lights can still be purchased and donations are accepted year round. Since mid-November the Tree of Giving has raised $2,530. The donations go toward updating dining rooms at HAMC.

For more information contact Linda Kay Duchscher at 701-776-5455 ext. 2315 or email lduchscher@hamc.com.
