Lions Club sponsoring Project Joy 2013

Christmas is right around the corner and, once again, the Rugby Lions Club will sponsor Project Joy during the holiday season. Lions Lila Harstad and Judy Jelsing are the project co-chairs. Applications can be picked up in the entryway to the Social Services Office. Forms can be returned to the Rugby Lions, PO Box 251, Rugby, N.D., 58368.

All requests are confidential and wish lists should include ages, gender and sizes of the children. Items requested will be written on the "Gift Tree" cards and placed on Project Joy 2013 Christmas trees at Shopko, Borth's and Hardware Hank. Gift cards and financial donations can be gifted to Project Joy 2013 and left at financial institutions.

Borth's is collecting "Warm Coats for Project Joy 2013." If you have a gently used winter coat that you want to donate, bring the coat to Borth's and receive a $5 in-store coupon.

Distribution day is Dec. 17 at Dakota Farms.

The Rugby Lions Project Joy served 55 families and 162 individuals last year, and 40 coats were delivered. The Rugby Lions have sponsored Project Joy for decades. The campaign was started by Rugby Lion and former Tribune editor Mark Carlson.
