Music in the Park

A little to the left

Music in the Park will return to the Ellery Park gazebo in Rugby after the holiday week, and taking the stage will be a Belcourt native with a performing style all his own.

Ryan Keplin plays many instruments, including acoustic guitar, bass and drums, but he's known for playing the fiddle. However, Keplin plays it differently from most. Keplin plays left-handed, as established by his nickname, "Fiddling Lefty".

Keplin took an interest in music at a young age, taking inspiration from fiddlers like Reg Bouvette and Andy Desjarlais. Since he has started performing he has shared the stage with several entertainers, and has since released four albums. His most recent of which, 2010's "Fiddling Lefty Twist", was nominated for a best fiddle cd award by the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards.

Keplin will perform starting at 7 p.m. While he's performing, members of the Rugby Lions Club will be serving free ice cream. In the event of inclement weather, tune in to KZZJ for more information.
