Johnson earns scholarship

Matthew Johnson has been awarded the Richard Gross Memorial Scholarship for $500 from the Pierce County Farm Bureau.

Johnson's parents are Craig and Rachel Johnson of Rugby.

Thompson earns academic award

The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Breanna Thompson of Rugby has been recognized for academic achievement as a United States National Honor Student award winner.

Thompson, who will be entering ninth grade at Rugby High School in the fall, will appear in the U.S. Achievement Academy's Official Yearbook which is published nationally.

"Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America's history," said Dr. George Stevens, founder of the U.S. Achievement Academy. "Certainly, U.S. Achievement Academy winners should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement."

Thompson is the daughter of Julie Hoffert, of Rugby. Thompson's grandparents are Beatrice Hoffert of Rugby and Peggy Thompson of Hankinson.
