Submitted information , Pierce County Tribune

David "Dr. Dave" Salinas will be performing under the Ellery Park gazebo at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 1.

Currently residing in Belcourt with his wife, he was born in Kenedy, Texas. He is a transplant to North Dakota.

Since his teenage years "Dr. Dave" has had an attraction to all types of music. Like many kids he had to have a guitar. But times were hard and it wasn't until he was sixteen that he was able to save the fifty dollars for a brand new Sears & Roebuck Silvertone Classical Guitar. No one in his family played music so it was hard to find a mentor to teach him. Finally someone taught him the three chords he needed to get started and he was on his way.

Later, in California, he met with his longtime friend Dave Hobblit who played 1920s & 1940s Swing Era music on keyboards. Dave Hoblitt patiently taught "Dr. Dave his style of music. In return "Dr. Dave" taught Hobblit to play, but was quickly dismissed he said due to his inability to read sheet music. He said he felt rejected and defeated and ready to give it up. He decided not to quit and spent endless hours teaching himself to read music.

He currently has his own Project Recording Studio, Dr. DaveProductions", where he spends endless hours still trying to perfect his music. He has been composing music and writing songs and is planning to produce a CD of his own original songs soon.

"Dr. Dave" helps local musicians with his audio and video recording skills. His goal is to preserve the music of the past, present, and the future.
