Village Fair around the corner

Music will fill the air at the 27th annual Village Fair on Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Prairie Village Museum. You can also expect to hear the blacksmith clanging, kids playing, burgers sizzling, saloon gals crooning, and much more. Featured entertainers include:

Dakota Dixie: Formed in 1983 by college friends who wanted to enjoy making music together, Dakota Dixie has been playing traditional jazz ever since. The group is led by trumpeter Pat Schwan, with Dr. Curt Kumpf on trombone, Bob Briggs on clarinet, Briana Schwan at piano, Curt Tracy on tuba, and John Spitzer on drums. They perform regularly at Minot's Great Tomato Festival, Integrity Jazz Festival, Nodakords "Good Time Music Show," and other events.

Manuel Delgado: Guitarist and vocalist Manuel Delgado has entertained throughout the United States for 20 years. Born in Mexico, he studied music and theory at the Institute of Music in Mexico City. Known for his deep, rich voice and the way he charms an audience, he'll perform a special number with Pioneer Survival Camp kids.

River Road: River Road, and its predecessor, River, has been together for about three years. The group plays a variety of music including gospel, oldies, a little bluegrass, and other types of music that catch their interest. Members include Alex Schwab, vocals and guitar; Susan Schwab, vocals, guitar and banjo; Amy Azure. vocals and keyboard; and Joni Haugland, harmony vocals. They have performed at Devils Lake Arts in the Park, Stump Lake Threshing Bee, Cando Gospel Extravaganza, and many other local events and venues.
