Rugby sixth grade and junior high bands participate in music festival

The Rugby sixth grade band and junior high band traveled to the Velva Invitational Music Festival recently, where both groups did very well.

The sixth grade band received a Superior rating along with 13 out of 14 solos and ensembles.

Those receiving Superior ratings were Karin Selland, flute solo, Thor Skjelver and Anders Johnson, trombone solos, Cade Leier, drum solo, Zach Burns, trumpet solo, Kyle Lashman, baritone solo, John Mueller, sax solo, Hannah Hoffert, clarinet solo, Karin Selland and Breanna Thompson, flute duet, John Mueller and Preston Tryba, sax duet, Jacob Blessum, Lucas Antonson, and Zach Burns, trumpet trio, Brett Berginski and Ben Hershey, drum duet.

Receiving an Excellent rating was Breanna Thompson, flute solo.

The Jr. high band also received a Superior rating along with 8 out of 11 solos and ensembles.

Those receiving Superior ratings were Jacob Berginski, trumpet solo, Nolan Hovland, trumpet, Darby Deckert, trombone, Helen Johnson, french horn, Taylor Wangerin, Shea Heidlebaugh, and Hunter Hager, sax trio, Zach Miller, Nolan Hovland, Brad Heidlebaugh, Reid Mundahl, Spencer Koehmstedt, and Spencer Alefteras, mixed ensemble, Lauren Kraft and Meranda Schmaltz, clarinet duet.

Excellent ratings were awarded to Jacob Berginski and Kaycee Mahle, trumpet duet, Darby Deckert, Helen Johnson, and Allison Foster, brass ensemble, ReeAnn Christianson and Lauren Christenson, flute duet.
