By Terri Kelly Barta

Rugby will be welcoming back one of its native daughters as the new director of the Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Shelley Block, Breezy Point, Minn., has accepted the position and will begin on Monday, Nov. 8.

A Rugby High School alumna, Block was known as Shelly Sattler when she was growing up in Rugby. She has been gone for 16 years and is looking forward to getting back to her "home" area.

"I am excited to continue Don's (Sobolik) work," said Block.

She is married to Dan Block. They ran a business together for many years but recently sold it. Dan will stay to help with the business transition and then will be joining Shelley in Rugby. They plan to live in her parents' home.

Shelley has two sons, Travis Hoffart, studying in Germany, and Jesse Hoffart, soon to begin college at St. Cloud, Minn. She enjoys spending time with family and volunteering. She likes to participate in outdoor activities such as walking, gardening, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, and hunting.

A Chamber After Hours event, for all Chamber members to have a chance to welcome Shelley, will be held at Merchants Bank from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8.
