Marie Marshall

Family: Husband John Marshall, daughter Cami Metzger works for the state of ND as a meat grader and meat inspector married to Bill Metzger, Station Supervisor at Farmers Union Oil Company Towner location. Two grandchildren Kaitlyn and Colton. Sons, Cody is a test technician for John Deere Experimental Farm at Ankeny Iowa. Lane is a junior in high school at TGU- Towner.

Occupation: A partner with husband John in ranching operation in McHenry County at Towner, ND. Field Supervisor for North Dakota Ag Statistics North Central Region.

Office: District 7 House of Representatives

Past/Present public office experience: Community and State boards I have served on: ND Farm Service Agency State Committee; Director and past president of the Farmer Union Oil Board of Rugby/Towner/Wolford/

Leeds currently secretary of Oil Board; Gilmore Township Clerk for 30 yrs.

Reasons for running for office: I want to make a difference to the future of North Dakota and District 7. I feel I can be a good representative for District 7 because of the values I believe in and stand up for. I am informed and knowledgeable about issues within District 7.

What is/are important issues facing the county: Making sure townships are funded at a responsible level to enable them to take care of their roads and bridges. Providing further meaningful property tax relief with a portion of the budget surplus. Funding for education need to continue to be funded by the state at 70%. Housing for middle class income families.

What role do legislators play in addressing those issues: As a legislator we have to consider the effects of our decisions. We need to make sure we listen to the concerns of the people we are representing and make sure to convey that message to the legislature.

Why should voters choose you for this office: I am an honest and hard working individual who has spent all my life in North Dakota and District 7. I will make myself accessible to them so I can do the best possible job for them. My prominent agricultural background and my sincere belief that North Dakota is one of the best and safest places to live will be assets in representing the district. Above all, I believe my integrity will carry through in my work as an honest and fair representative of the people.
