Ekren to attend NYU's Tisch School of the Arts

Sam Ekren, of Nevis Minn., and a recent graduate of Perpich Center for Arts Education, has been accepted to the prestigious New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in New York City.

Ekren is the son of Keith and Cindie Ekren, Nevis; and the grandson of Loraine Ekren, Rugby.

The Tisch School is regarded as one of the best film schools in the world. Ekren had an interest in making films at an early age and over the years has won numerous awards for his filmmaking. His work has been showcased at many well-known festivals, including the Shorties in Washington, D.C. and the Los Angeles Film Festival.

He won best director award at the Newport Beach Film Festival and Best Stop-motion Animation Award at the Reel Teens Film Festival in New York.

He also earned the Gold Key Portfolio and the Merit Award from the Minnesota Scholastic Art Awards and a Merit Award from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts.
