A talented duo

Just Friends bring their vocal cabaret music to concert series this week

The Heart of America Concert Association will kick off its 2010-11 season with "Just Friends", piano and vocal caberet music, this Friday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the RHS Tilman Hovland Auditorium.

"Just Friends", which includes, Jimmy Martin and Dee Noah, take the stage to bring caberet music at its finest. With good humor, Jimmy (on piano and voice) and Dee (lead vocals) share a sparkling and varied program performed with great skill and wonderful personality.

A sampling of their program are some old favorites, "Ragtime Medley", "Try To Remember", "Embraceable You", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Phantom of the Opera Medley", and "You'll Never Walk Alone."

Martin started early when he debuted with the Toledo Symphony at the age of 5. In his long and varied performing career, he has played everywhere from Carnegie Hall, New York, to the Guthrie Theater, Minneapolis. His musicianship and winning demeanor have placed him in high demand as an accompanist. Jimmy has shared stages with Bea Arthur, Carmel Quinn, Tony Sandler and many others.

"I am thrilled to be creating fun music with one of my dearest friends, Dee, said Martin.

Noah's career inlcudes work with the Tony award-winning Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and many lead roles with the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres in the Twin Cities. She has sung with the Detroit Grand Opera and the Toledo Symphony. Her film work includes Cold Justice starring Roger Daltrey and Factotum starring Matt Dillon.
