Barta is new Tribune editor

Brings 20 years experience into the position

September 10, 2010
Tribune Staff Report

Terri Kelly Barta is beginning a new assignment in her journalism career.

The former editor for the Ransom County Gazette in Lisbon is the new editor-general manager of the Pierce County Tribune. She steps in for Matt Mullally who is leaving the community after 14 years in the position.

"I'm very excited to be here and looking forward to meeting people and getting familiar with the community and region,'' said Barta.

She will oversee the production of The Tribune as well as supervise the office which offers commercial job printing and sells office supplies.

"I was looking for a change and the position here appeared to be a good opportunity,'' Terri said.

Barta is well aware of the challenges of putting together a newspaper and understands what news and feature stories readers expect to be covered.

She began working at the Ransom Co. Gazette in 1988 and became editor there in 1997, and adds a career in journalism allows her the opportunity to learn many different subjects as well as meet many interesting people while writing news stories.

Barta is a Harvey native and she has four grown sons: Damon, residing in Vancouver, BC; Justin, Kellam and Landon, all of Fargo.

Mullally will remain on staff for a few more weeks assisting in Barta's transition into the office.

She is not the only new face in the office as Hallie Anderson was recently hired as advertising sales person. Other staff members include: Melissa Anderson, office manager; Edie Wurgler, circulation director-front office; Stranford Harmel, production foreman.
