Rolette County Legion posts 1-2 record

June 18, 2010
Tribune Staff Report

Rolette County's team had a busy week, playing three section games in three nights, going 1-2 in that stretch.

The Muskrats fell to defending section champion Velva 10-3 on June 14.

Velva scored four unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to bust the game open. "We threw the ball around and that hurt us,' said Tory Danielson, RC coach.

RC's runs came in the fifth inning. Jaden Pfeifer was 2-4 with a double to lead the Muskrats. Dillion Dionne was tagged with the pitching loss.

RC rebounded to defeat Harvey 6-3 on June 15. Garrett Thompson pitched all seven innings to get the win. Pake Hagen drove in two runs.

On June 16, the Muskrats were involved in a wild game with Surrey, losing 9-8 in eight innings. Jaden Pfeifer's single in the bottom of the seventh forced extra innings, but the Blue Sox scored on a wild pitch in the eighth for the game-winning run.

Surrey led 7-1 before the Muskrats rallied to tie. They scored four runs in the fifth; two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Pitcher Josh Casavant took the loss. Pfeier had two hits in the game.

RC is now 3-2 in section play and Danielson said his team has a few key areas to work on. "Defensively, we're making too many errors and our offensive has not been clicking. We hope to get some players back in the lineup and change the batting order around."
