Niewoehner re-appointed to funeral board

North Dakota Governor John Hoeven has announced the re-appointment of Dale G. Niewoehner, Rugby, to another term on the North Dakota State Board of Funeral Service. The second term will run from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2014.

The North Dakota State Board of Funeral Service is made up of three practicing funeral practitioners appointed by the Governor. The North Dakota State Health Officer is the licensing and disciplinary agency for the profession.

Niewoehner operates the Niewoehner Funeral Home in Rugby, which he founded in 1972. He has funeral practitioner licenses in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Illinois. He is a 1963 graduate of Upham High School, and graduated from Worsham College Of Mortuary Science Chicago in 1967. He is also a graduate of Minot State University Bottineau in 2002. He is a certified funeral service practitioner from the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, of which he is a past Treasurer. He is a past president of the North Dakota Funeral Directors Association and served as its Executive Secretary for 10 years. He is also a past Policy Board Member of the National Funeral Directors Association.

He will continue to serve as the Executive Secretary of the North Dakota State Board of Funeral Service. Niewoehner is finishing his second and final term as Mayor of the city of Rugby, after serving a total of 30 years in municipal government in various levels in addition to being active in the Rugby Lions Club and as an advocate for Amtrak services in the state of North Dakota.
