Tribune Staff Report

Emergency Medical Services Recognition Week will take place May 16-22.

To kickoff the week, EMS personnel will be hosting a benefit breakfast at the Rugby Eagles Club on Sunday, May 16. The menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee and juice. There will be a free-will offering taken. Proceeds will benefit one of the ambulance drivers, TJ Haggerty and his family, who recently had a baby who passed away unexpectedly. The breakfast will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Other highlights from the week include surprise treats for the fire department members on Tuesday and for the police department on Friday. On Wednesday evening, there will be a Tournament of Squads competition involving the local EMS crews as well as those from area towns. On Thursday evening, the public is invited to an open house and picnic supper at the ambulance garage. Also, watch for "Friends of EMS" yard signs to be placed around town to celebrate the week.
