Summer is not too far away for Village Arts Inc..

Auditions for its summer musical will be conducted this Wednesday, May 12 and Thursday May 13 at 7 p.m. at the Rugby High School band room.

Village Arts was pleased to be granted rights to the musical play "Pajama Game" through Music Theatre International of New York City. Each year the organization produces a popular Broadway musical in Rugby for regional audiences.

"We attract audiences from long distances to Rugby,'' said Deb Jenkins, music director. "Last year we had a couple from New York and others from up to 500 miles away."

The musical was written in the 1950's and features such well known musical hits as "Hernando's Hideaway", "Steam Heat" and "Hey There". Parts are available for adults as well as junior and senior high school students.

Glory Monson, director encourages newcomers to take a role in the summer show.
