The Rugby School Board will hold two special meetings, Feb. 8 and 9, to interview four architect firms.

One of them could eventually be chosen to design and oversee major renovation work planned in the district's two school buildings. The four firms include: EAPC Architecture and Engineering; Zerr Berg Architects, ICON Architectural Group; and Davison Larson Associates.

The first special meeting will be on Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. in the Jr.Sr. High library. The second will be on Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. in the library.

The board will conduct its regular monthly meeting at 8 p.m. on Feb. 9 as well. It's possible the board could decide the scope of the planned renovation work this week.

Two areas identified as in most need of upgrades include the 1955 addition at the Rugby Jr.-Sr. High building and new windows at Ely Elementary. Other building improvements have been discussed.

It's likely the project will be done in phases and work would begin this summer. School officials have also looked into a number of funding options, but have not formally decided on how to finance the renovation work.
