Fresh off a third place showing at the regional LEGO tournament, the Leeds team will compete on Saturday, Jan. 30, in the state event at Grand Forks.

The competition includes designing, building and programing robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS technology, applying real-world math and science concepts.

The regional competition was held in Lakota earlier in January. Dakota Prairie's Elementary team won the competition. Minnewaukan was second. Teams are awarded points by a panel of judges.

Other teams participating in the regional event included:?Rock Lake, Four Winds, North Star, Central Middle School (Devils Lake) and Rolla.

Each participant received a certificate for their participation.
