Tuchscherer named to All-DAC team

Dickinson State University senior football player and Rugby native John Tuchscherer was recently named to the All-DAC 10 second team. This is the second straight year Tuchscherer, a defensive lineman, has earned all-conference honors.

"It was a goal of mine to be an all-conference player, but the main goal was get back to the playoffs,'' he said.

Dickinson State was DAC 10 co-champions this season and qualified for the NAIA playoffs. The Blue Hawks will again play Carroll College of Helena, Mont. today, Nov. 21.

Tuchscherer is in his final year of earning an elementary education degree. In addition to attending school and playing football for DSU, he helps out with an after-school tutoring program in Dickinson. "I've always enjoyed coaching... working with kids and education is a great career to do that,'' he said.

John is the son of Jim and Jodi Tuchscherer, Rugby.

Burgard bags buck

Travis Burgard, 14, bagged this 5 x 5 buck near Orrin on opening day of the deer hunting season. He is the son of Pete and Kim Burgard of Rugby.

Jorgenson to attend NDSU

Nicole Jorgenson has been admitted to North Dakota State University "With Distinction."

She will enter NDSU in the fall 2010 and plans to major in nursing. Distinction means that NDSU is acknowledging Jorgenson as an honor student.

In high school, Jorgenson is active in track, volleyball, robotics, FFA, National Honor Society, Catholic Youth Organization, and yearbook.

She is also a statistician for the basketball and wrestling teams and listed in the "Who's Who Among American High School Students."

She is the daughter of Kory and Linda Jorgenson, Rugby.
