Hundreds of students attend the International Music Camp each summer, but only a talented few stand out to instructors.

Rugby's Theresa Mack has proven to be one them. The Rugby High School senior was name the Outstanding Female Musician during this past summer's camp.

"I was really surprised to learn of the award,'' said Mack, who has also earned all-state high school music awards in both band and choir. "There were a lot of talented musicians there."

Theresa attended two week-long sessions where she played the trumpet as well as participated in vocal music at the camp. The sessions included individual practice with music instructors and performing with other musicians.

This was the fifth year she attended the camp, located at the International Peace Garden, which is well-known for bringing an impressive collection of talented musicians together with accomplished and highly regarded musical teachers.

"I just enjoy music so much and this is an opportunity to continue that (in the summer) and I get to see a lot of the same people each year," she said.

Theresa is the daughter of Galen and Glenda Mack.
