| | and the beat goes on...August 12, 2011 - Terri Kelly BartaBecause of the Rugby High School renovation project, school is set to start on Thursday, September 1. Football and cross country practices have already started here in Rugby. The weather is slipping into fall with temperatures in the 80s during the day and cooling off so people can have their windows open at night. Harvest is later than usual due to late planting and lots of rain over the summer. The crops look good so far, but it is early. Some areas of Pierce County didn't even get planted last spring because of water everywhere. The school renovation project is on schedule for the work being done this year. The outside structure of the new addition on the north is taking shape and if all goes as planned will be functional after the Christmas holiday. New windows on the west wing of the school has added much light to that area. Painting of classrooms is done and carpet will be installed soon. The second phase of the project will be completed next summer with the whole endeavor complete in the fall of 2012. Rugby is planning a new fall festival with the Wind Farm Festival on September 10.
